WATER DAMAGE
To reduce the Harmful Effects of Water
THINGS TO DO after you have called a professional:
- Insure that there isn’t and electrical hazards caused by water rising above electrical outlets.
- Prop up wet upholstery cushions to promote drying.
- Place aluminum foil of saucers between furniture legs and wet carpet.
- Remove and broken glass from carpet and upholstery.
- Remove valuables to higher, dryer locations.
- Remove as much excess water until the restoration company arrives.
- Remove all containers and objects that may cause staining; paints, ink, chemicals and cosmetics.
- Soak up water carefully using only clean, colorless towels.
- Pick up colored magazines and non-colorfast substances right away.
THINGS NOT TO DO:
- DO NOT turn on electrical appliances.
- DO NOT use your home vacuum to remove water.
- DO NOT turn on ceiling fixtures if the area in wet.
