To Reduce the Harmful Effects of Water
Things To Do:
| Insure that there isn't any electrical hazard caused by water rising above electrical outlets. | Remove as much excess water until the restoration company arrives. |
| Prop up wet upholstery cushions to promote drying. | Remove all containers and objects that may cause staining, paints, ink, chemicals and cosmetics. |
| Place aluminum foil or saucers between furniture legs and wet carpeting. | Soak up water carefully using only clean, colorless towels. |
| Remove any broken glass from carpet and upholstery. | Pick up colored magazines and non-colorfast substances right away. |
| Remove valuables to higher, dryer locations. |
Things Not To Do:
| DO NOT turn on electrical appliances. |
| DO NOT use your home vacuum to remove water. |
| DO NOT turn on ceiling fixtures if the area is wet. |
