Water Damage

To Reduce the Harmful Effects of Water

Things To Do:

Insure that there isn't any electrical hazard caused by water rising above electrical outlets. Remove as much excess water until the restoration company arrives.
Prop up wet upholstery cushions to promote drying. Remove all containers and objects that may cause staining, paints, ink, chemicals and cosmetics.
Place aluminum foil or saucers between furniture legs and wet carpeting. Soak up water carefully using only clean, colorless towels.
Remove any broken glass from carpet and upholstery. Pick up colored magazines and non-colorfast substances right away.
Remove valuables to higher, dryer
locations.

Things Not To Do:

DO NOT turn on electrical appliances.
DO NOT use your home vacuum to remove water.
DO NOT turn on ceiling fixtures if the area is wet.
